While shadowing a rheumatologist, Suril Patel experienced what medicine could be: compassionate and hope-building. He saw patients treated with respect, concerns addressed and opinions valued. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Florida with a degree in biochemistry, Suril decided he would attend a medical school that matched his “desire to focus medicine towards helping others.” During his undergraduate career, he pursued these ambitions in volunteer organizations working with asthmatic children at Camp Boggy Creek and cancer patients at the Hope Lodge. Suril found what he was looking for at FSU College of Medicine and looks forward to learning from the clinically focused faculty, his peers and most importantly, from the patients he will serve.
