FSU Emergency Medicine Student Association (EMSA) was founded in the
spring of 2002 by students interested in emergency medicine. EMSA
strives to educate current medical students about the residency
possibilities, and practice of emergency medicine. All of our
members have joined the
American Academy of
Emergency Medicine and some have joined the Florida Academy of
Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Medical Residents Association (EMRA).

EMSA has hosted a suture clinic, a lecture on the
practice of Emergency Medicine and helped do blood pressure and
heart screenings at the FSU community health fair.

For the second year in a row we have held a suture clinic to
teach medical students in their first and second years basic
suturing technique. This evening starts with a brief
classroom lecture, then the students practice on pig skin until
they have mastered the skills.

physicians in their own time at the newly completed Bixler Emergency
Center at TMH, or at ORMC in Orlando.
