Cell Culture
The cell culture facility is designed to accommodate the culture of mammalian cell lines and other animal cell lines. Work involving the culture of bacterial cells, spore-forming yeast, Neurospora or fungi or single-celled microorganisms may not be performed due to the potential of these cultures contaminating other cell lines. All work involving human cell lines must first be approved by the University Biosafety Committee. All work involving recombinant DNA must first be approved by the University Recombinant DNA Committee. The Cell Culture Facility is a BSL 2 Laboratory. All work will be performed using BSL 2 guidelines. The facility is equipped with three Biological Safety Cabinets. Room 3314C has a BSL2+ cabinet. Primarily work needing a higher level of safety (such as viral work) will be performed in this room. A CO2 incubator is located in the room. Rooms 3314A and B both have a BSL 2 safety cabinet. Both rooms have a CO2 incubator. Equipment/supplies provided by the facility Rainin LTS Pipettes-Dedicated for hoods in rooms 3314 A and B Pipet Controller-Dedicated for each hood. Flow Cytometry
The flow cytometry facility is equipped with a BD FACSCanto analyzer and a BD FACSAria cell sorter. The FACSCanto is a two laser 6-color instrument with FACS DIVA software for analysis. Lasers included are 488 and 630HENE. Training sessions will be provided to individuals wishing to use the facility. Appointments are scheduled through the web page or through the director. The FACSAria is a three laser 9-color bench top instrument with FACS DIVA software for analysis. Lasers included are 488 Blue, 630 HENE and 407 Violet. The instrument has a 70 and a 100 um nozzle for sorting and or analysis. Appointments are scheduled through the director.
