Scholarships

Most students think of scholarships as “free money” or money for school without payback obligations. There are relatively few of these funds compared to the “payback” scholarships which are often need-based programs. A payback scholarship will require the applicant to submit information about their parent’s income and finances. The financial aid office at each school has information about both types of funds. Scholarships are available on both the state and federal level.

Here is some scholarship information which recently arrived:

Manatee County Medical Education Foundation, Inc.

Scholarships from $50-$2000 for students majoring in nursing, medicine and certain other health related fields. Applicant must have been a resident of Manatee Co. for the past two years and have at least a 2.5 GPA.

U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program

This program pays tuition, books and provides a monthly stipend. Applicants must have a letter of acceptance from a dental school. The average GPA of recent selectees was 3.34.
