Scholarships
Most students think of scholarships as “free money” or money for
school without payback obligations. There are relatively few of
these funds compared to the “payback” scholarships which are often
need-based programs. A payback scholarship will require the
applicant to submit information about their parent’s income and
finances. The financial aid office at each school has information
about both types of funds. Scholarships are available on both the
state and federal level.
Here is some scholarship information which recently arrived:
Manatee County Medical Education Foundation, Inc.
Scholarships from $50-$2000 for students majoring in nursing,
medicine and certain other health related fields. Applicant must
have been a resident of Manatee Co. for the past two years and have
at least a 2.5 GPA.
U.S. Army Health Professions
Scholarship Program
This program pays tuition, books and provides a monthly stipend.
Applicants must have a letter of acceptance from a dental school.
The average GPA of recent selectees was 3.34.
